BMW DME bench unlock service for models:

S55, N20, N26, N55, B48, B46, B58, S58, F SERIES, & G SERIES

A bench unlock service may be needed to flash-based tune a vehicle's Digital Motor Electronics (DME) unit, also known as an ECU in other cars. The DME controls a vehicle's electrical operations, receiving signals from the engine and other components to adjust performance. If a vehicle has recently received software updates, BMW may have locked the DME, which would require bench unlocking to install a tune.
